High Blood Pressure: Know Your Numbers and Take Control

Did you know that roughly one in three UK adults has high blood pressure—often without even realising it? When left untreated, high blood pressure (also known as hypertension) can lead to serious health issues such as heart disease, heart attacks, and even early death. The only way to know if your blood pressure is high is to get it checked. Fortunately, if it’s detected, it can usually be managed with medication and straightforward changes to your diet and activity levels.

To help relieve some of the demand on GP practices, community pharmacies are now offering blood pressure checks. At King Street Pharmacy in Plymouth, we’re proud to support our community with this valuable service.

Your blood pressure check will be carried out privately in our consultation room. If the results indicate high blood pressure, our pharmacist will explain the next steps—whether that involves monitoring, lifestyle adjustments, or contacting your GP for further assessment or treatment. We’ll also provide practical advice on maintaining a healthy heart through balanced nutrition and regular exercise.
